KIIT University: Technology Business Incubator (TBI) and Spin-offs

KIIT University has established the KIIT Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI) as its primary platform to support startups, spin-offs, and entrepreneurial ventures. Launched in 2008–2009 as an initiative of KIIT and supported by the National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, KIIT-TBI is a registered Not-for-Profit Section 25 Company

KIIT-TBI & India’s Startup Ecosystem

Aligned with the Government of India’s Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS), KIIT Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI) supports early-stage startups with seed capital, mentorship, and market access. This flagship initiative provides funding for prototype development, proof of concept, product trials, and scaling up, bridging the gap between innovation and commercialization.

Through this collaboration, KIIT-TBI strengthens India’s startup ecosystem, fostering entrepreneurship, job creation, and economic growth while promoting the vision of Startup India.

Advancing Research and Innovation for Sustainable Infrastructure

KIIT Deemed to be University is actively fostering research and development that supports sustainable growth and technological advancement. Recognizing the global challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation, KIIT has prioritized environmental sustainability as a core area of innovation. The University is strengthening its research facilities and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration to develop green technologies, resilient infrastructure, and eco-friendly solutions that contribute to a sustainable and inclusive future.

The university has established several research laboratories and centers that are dedicated to addressing these pressing issues.

  1. Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Research Centre: This research center focuses on advancing the development and adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles, which can significantly reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a cleaner environment.
  2. Green Engine Technology Centre: The Green Engine Technology Centre works towards designing and developing environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient engines that can help mitigate air pollution and conserve natural resources.
  3. Thin Film Photovoltaic Lab: This laboratory is committed to researching and improving thin film photovoltaic technology, a renewable energy source that harnesses sunlight to generate electricity without depleting finite resources.
  4. Environmental Engineering Laboratory: This laboratory is dedicated to studying and devising solutions to environmental challenges, including water and air pollution, waste management, and sustainable infrastructure.
  5. KIIT-DU Central Advanced Research Centre: This central research center may oversee interdisciplinary research efforts related to environmental sustainability and other critical fields.

Additionally, the University is establishing multiple Centers of Excellence dedicated to advancing research and innovation in priority areas aligned with sustainable infrastructure and industrial development. KSCE Hosts Talk on AI & Sustainable Construction Innovation

On 18.01.2024, KIIT’s Civil Engineering department hosted an industrial talk on AI-driven structural optimization, led by Mr. Kiran Kakde. The session highlighted green construction practices, patented technologies like Direct Stress Path Mapping, and the future PAAS model. It fostered awareness about sustainability, tech, and modernization in engineering.

 

PIC-2024 Ignites Student Innovation at KIIT-DU

On 20.01.2024, KIIT School of Computer Engineering hosted the 13th Project Innovation Contest (PIC-2024), showcasing 32 innovative student projects from across India in AI, robotics, IoT, healthcare tech, and more. Top prototypes were evaluated for awards and will be published in an ISBN-certified book.

KIMS Hosts India’s First EUS 360 Training Program

KIMS organized the pioneering EUS 360 program on Jan 20–21, 2024, advancing gastroenterology education in India. Through expert-led lectures and hands-on training, young specialists gained critical EUS skills, promoting innovation, research, and better digestive health care nationwide.

KSOFT Hosts Sustainable Jewellery Workshop Celebrating Art, Innovation & Talent

KIIT School of Fashion Technology (KSOFT) held a three-day workshop (Feb 7–9, 2024) on sustainable and fancy jewellery design, featuring award-winning artisans. Students gained hands-on experience, culminating in a jewellery competition. The event also spotlighted alumna Jyotirmayee Nayak and student author Sampoorna Pati’s book launch, fostering creativity and sustainability.

SELLATHON Showcases Student Marketing Ingenuity at KIIT School of Rural Management

KIIT School of Rural Management’s Marketing Club hosted SELLATHON on March 24, 2024. Themed “Hunar se Becho”, the multi-round event challenged 20 teams to apply marketing concepts, culminating in a final where groups used ₹500 seed capital to sell creatively. Innovation, profitability, and teamwork were key judging criteria.

Creative Aerobics Workshop at KIIT Fosters Advertising Innovation and Ethics

On 30.07.2024, KIIT School of Mass Communication hosted a two-day workshop led by Dr. Arpan Yagnik of Penn State University on creative aerobics in advertising. Alumni Talk Highlights Solar Energy’s Role in Sustainable Rural Livelihoods

On 09.08.2024, KIIT School of Rural Management hosted alumnus Satyapriya Sahu for a talk on Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE).
