KIIT Green Campus Society (KGCS)

The KIIT Green Campus Society (KGCS) is a student led initiative of KIIT Deemed to be University dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and responsible resource management across the campus. The society works towards creating a greener and cleaner campus by actively involving students in environmental conservation activities and sustainable lifestyle practices.

KGCS encourages students to take leadership in protecting natural resources, enhancing campus biodiversity, and supporting ecofriendly practices aligned with global sustainability goals.

To develop a sustainable and environmentally responsible campus community through student participation and innovative green initiatives.

Mission

  • To promote environmental awareness among students and staff. 
  • To encourage sustainable practices such as waste reduction, energy conservation, and biodiversity protection. 
  • To involve students in campus sustainability initiatives and community environmental outreach. 
  • To support institutional sustainability goals aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Key Activities

The society organizes various activities throughout the academic year, including:

Tree Plantation and Biodiversity Drives
Students participate in tree plantation programs and biodiversity conservation initiatives within the campus.

Waste Management Awareness Programs
Campaigns on waste segregation, recycling, and reduction of single use plastics.

Energy Conservation Campaigns
Awareness drives promoting responsible energy consumption in hostels, laboratories, and academic buildings.

Clean Campus Initiatives
Student volunteers conduct campus cleanliness drives and environmental awareness activities.

Sustainable Transport Awareness
Promotion of cycling, walking, and electric mobility within campus.

Student Participation

The society is entirely student driven, with members from various schools and departments of the university working together to implement sustainability initiatives.
