
Admission Department of the University maintains the track of applications & admissions of underrepresented (and potentially underrepresented) groups including ethnic minorities, low income students, non-traditional students, women, LGBT students, disabled students, refugee/displaced students etc. It maintains a statistical database of applications and admissions from different backgrounds, countries and ethnic groups. Reports are also collected from dedicated mentors allotted to these students to understand their needs and aspirations. Information is also gathered from alumni from different countries through a dedicated alumni cell. - Scholarships are provided to meritorious students from under represented (and potentially underrepresented) groups including ethnic minorities, low income students, non-traditional students, women, LGBT students, disabled students, refugee/displaced students etc . The quantum of scholarship and period of scholarship is subject to change from time to time. The University also gives a special discount of 20% to all its employees as well as children of the employees.

- Pradyumna Bal Memorial Scholarships:
The scholarship is instituted in the memory of Late Pradyumna Kishore Bal, Founder President of the University. Every year two poor and meritorious students are provided completely free education under this scholarship scheme. The scholarship covers college fees, hostel fees including mess, books and any other ancillary expenses.
- KIIT-Merit Scholarships:
Merit Scholarship is provided to the University-Toppers of each semester of six months. KIIT provides free education to the topper of KIITEE (Only for B.Tech. (4 years) if admitted at KIIT. In addition to this, KIIT provides scholarship to top 1000 rank holders of KIITEE (B.Tech. – 4 years) during his/her study period at KIIT subject to fulfilment of criteria.
- KIIT Poverty-Cum-Merit Scholarships:
The University has instituted Poverty-cum-Merit scholarship for the poor and needy students. The amount and period of scholarship is decided based on the need of the selected candidates. The decision of the selection committee for selection of such candidates is final.
- Teaching Assistant-ships:
The University has launched a living learning Programme for the M.Tech students. This innovative programme has been initiated to benefit the post graduate students, who wish to supplement their income while being a student and gain experience in teaching/research. Number of such award is flexible and vested with the management of the University.
- International students Scholarship:
scholarship scheme under which two students from each country are provided full scholarships and 10 other students are provided 50% scholarship each to pursue their education in the University.
- Tribal students are provided free education along with accommodation and food by the University. In 2022, the 6000+ tribal students are continuing their studies in various courses of the University.
- Special scholarship has been established for the children of COVID deceased for pursuing technical and profession education at KIIT. 94 number of students have been given full fee waiver under this scheme in 2022.

- Scholarship of about 47.7 crores INR has been provided to the students in year 2021-22.
KIIT supports the underrepresented Groups of the Society
- 30% of seats are reserved for Women and 3% for the Differently-able. The University has more than 50% representation by girl students across all programmes. About 851 differently abled students pursue various programmes of the University currently.
- The University conducts education fairs and campaigns in places to counsel the people for education.
- It also conducts “Kanya Kiran” programme to educate the people about importance of educating girl children. Tribal areas are visited by University team; Tribal students and their parents are counseled on importance of education. The news about the same is available at:

- In collaboration with Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiative in partnership with SAKHA, the transgender community network, the University is taking a pioneering step to promote behavorial change by engaging with transgender community.
- Meritorious low income students may opt for ‘earn while you learn scheme’.

- Education for all’ summits are conducted to reach out to various students from different groups, categories, and backgrounds across the country, making them aware of the facilities available at the University, future prospects and motivating them to join higher study programmes. https://educationforall.kiit.ac.in/
- Programmes like ‘UDAY- creating change makers in tribal community’ are conducted in the tribal areas of the country. KISS (a sister Institute of KIIT) in partnership with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and with support from Rural Electrification Corporation Limited Foundation (REC Foundation) has rolled out Mission-UDAY in 2018. It aims to reduce vulnerabilities of young people from tribal communities & create a cadre of tribal youth leaders who would be change agents in their respective communities. They will be engaged in addressing various social concerns; assisting communities to take advantage of welfare programmes and develop a model for youth engagement in conflict affected areas of Odisha. The project is implemented in 19 blocks of three tribal dominated districts of Odisha, i.e. Rayagada, Koraput and Malkanagiri. The project has built the capacity of 841 young people in the identified districts, who are now the ‘change agent’s’ in their respective communities. More details can be found in below link:
