These initiatives help policy and lawmakers develop a deeper understanding of the issues they face and provide them with the skills and knowledge necessary to address these challenges effectively. By collaborating with universities, government agencies can tap into the expertise and resources of the academic community to enhance their capacity and decision-making processes.
KIIT Law School's Advanced Management Development Program on Marketing Analytics for Policy and Law-Makers
KIIT Law School (KLS) recently hosted an Advanced Management Development Program on “Analytics in Marketing” from March 13-18, 2023, in collaboration with the National Institute of MSME, Hyderabad. This program, attended by 53 participants from Odisha and beyond, focused on the critical role of information in business strategy. Sessions covered essential topics such as research methodology, data analysis, statistics, and the practical application of MS Excel.
Additionally, the program included modules on firm registration, GST, income tax, business negotiation, contracts, and start-up funding. Eminent experts, including Dr. S. Glory Swarupa, Director General of NI-MSME, and other senior leaders from KLS and NI-MSME, participated in the event. Sponsored by the Ministry of MSME, this initiative aimed to equip policymakers, law professionals, and aspiring entrepreneurs with analytical and strategic skills essential for informed decision-making and effective business management.
9th KIIT National Moot Court Competition: Empowering Future Law Professionals through Practice, Perseverance, and Patience
KIIT Law School (KLS) inaugurated the 9th KIIT National Moot Court Competition, reinforcing its commitment to training future law professionals through practical learning. Honored guest Justice D.P. Choudhary addressed students on the vital attributes for success in law—Practice, Perseverance, and Patience. Additional sessions included a virtual SCC session by Prof. (Dr.) Chetan Singh Gill, a researcher’s test, and memorial exchanges, offering participants valuable skills in legal research, argumentation, and procedural understanding. Organized by KLS’s Moot Court Society, this event serves as a critical capacity-building platform, honing students’ advocacy skills and preparing them for impactful careers in law.

On July 9, 2023, KIIT Law School (KLS) students from the Centre for Constitutional Studies and Research engaged in a profound discussion with Honourable Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph, former Supreme Court Judge of India, in New Delhi. This session focused on approaches to constitutional interpretation, including textualism, originalism, and living constitutionalism.
Justice Joseph shared insights on balancing stability with adaptability in interpreting the Indian Constitution, emphasizing both active judicial interpretation for safeguarding rights and the importance of judicial self-restraint to maintain the separation of powers. Through this interaction, students gained real-world perspectives on constitutional law, strengthening their understanding of its application in policymaking and governance. KLS’s Centre for Constitutional Studies and Research expressed deep gratitude to Justice Joseph for this enriching experience, underscoring KIIT’s commitment to capacity-building and legal education for aspiring legal professionals and policymakers.
Building Expertise in Blockchain and Cyber Law: KIIT Kareer School’s Workshop for Aspiring Professionals
KIIT Kareer School, in collaboration with the Asian School of Cyber Laws, held a workshop on “Blockchain Technology and Cyber Law” to equip B. Tech, Law, and MBA students with critical knowledge in Blockchain and Cyber Security. Led by industry experts Mr. Gokul Narayan and Mr. Rohas Nagpal, the workshop covered key areas including Blockchain and Crypto Law, Online Gaming Law, Cyber Crime Law, and digital evidence regulations.
Mr. Narayan highlighted the urgent need for cybersecurity awareness as digital technologies evolve, while Mr. Nagpal discussed the legal nuances of cryptocurrency, NFTs, and filing cybercrime cases. Emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity in every career field, Prof. Priyadarshi Biswal, Dean of KIIT Kareer School, noted the workshop’s impact on preparing students for cyber challenges. Attended by around 600 students, the workshop underscored KIIT’s commitment to preparing students for high- demand careers in digital law and cybersecurity.
Mentorship in Law: Former Supreme Court Justice L. Nageswar Rao Inspires KIIT Law Students on Empathy and Professional Dedication
As part of its outreach and capacity-building efforts, KIIT Law School (KLS) organized an insightful interaction between students from the KIIT Centre for Constitutional Law Studies and Research and former Supreme Court Justice L. Nageswar Rao in New Delhi on July 30, 2023. Justice Rao, currently leading the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC) in Hyderabad, shared wisdom from his distinguished legal career, discussing landmark cases and the principles that shaped his judgments. He encouraged students to embrace perseverance, dedication, and continuous learning to navigate the legal profession’s challenges.
Justice Rao also emphasized the importance of empathy in client relations and a steadfast commitment to justice. The engaging session offered students a rare glimpse into the complexities of legal practice and valuable guidance on upholding ethical standards. Exploring Constitutional Silences and Judicial Accountability: KIIT Law School's Constitution Day Event
On November 26, 2023, KIIT School of Law (KLS) hosted an insightful event focused on “Constitutional Silences, Unconstitutional Inaction,” organized by the Centre for Constitutional Law Studies and Research in collaboration with the NSS Unit of KLS. The keynote speaker, Shri Pinaki Misra, Member of Parliament and Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court, examined the judiciary’s role in ensuring accountability, referencing the State of Punjab vs. Principal Secretary case.
Misra discussed the limitations on a Governor’s powers, noting that an unelected official cannot obstruct legitimate legislative processes. Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Saranjit Singh and Emeritus Professor Dr. N. L. Mitra enriched the discourse with their perspectives on constitutional interpretation. Prof. Dr. Rose Varghese, Director of KLS, led a Preamble reading, emphasizing foundational values. The event concluded with an interactive session, providing students and faculty the chance to engage on complex legal topics, underscoring KIIT’s commitment to fostering informed and analytical future legal professionals.

The session, moderated by Dr. Komal Sandhu, delved into pressing topics such as cybersecurity, data privacy, and strategic approaches for strengthening data protection measures. Her expertise highlighted both the risks posed by the digital landscape and essential strategies for safeguarding sensitive information in today’s interconnected world.
