Art of Giving

Art of Giving is all about creating an unconditional and sustainable abundance of love, peace and happiness and contentment for others through gestures of kindness and generosity. It was founded by Shri Achyuta Samanta on 17 May 2013. The key to peace and happiness lies in unlocking the Art of Giving in each individual. It is a not-for-profit initiative for spreading, supporting and promoting the practice of the art of giving around the world. International Art of Giving Day is being celebrated all over India and 120 countries across the globe spreading over 20000 center.

NSS Wing of KIDS Organizes Oral Health Awareness and Screening Camp

In line with the profound philosophy of the “Art of Giving,” originally championed by the visionary Founder, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS) orchestrated a remarkable initiative. They organized an Oral Health Awareness and Screening Camp at Adruta Children’s Home, situated in Chandaka, Bhubaneswar.

A dedicated team comprising Post-Graduate Trainees and House Surgeons, led by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Dhirendra Kumar Singh and Dr. Arpita Singh, a Ph.D. Scholar at KIDS, executed this noble endeavor. Over 120 children were thoughtfully screened for various oral health issues, with an emphasis on educating them about oral health and hygiene practices. Additionally, valuable guidance was provided on maintaining a healthy diet.

The compassionate team extended their benevolence further by distributing free study materials to the orphaned children. They commended the Founder’s unwavering commitment to serving the society and people of Odisha, exemplifying the true essence of the “Art of Giving.”

AOG Celebrates 9th Anniversary; observing it as UN Proclaimed Day on cards On May 17, India and numerous countries globally commemorated the 9th anniversary of the Art of Giving (AOG), an initiative pioneered by Prof. Achyuta Samanta, the founder of KIIT, KISS, and KIMS. AOG aims to foster equitable and harmonious societal relations. This year’s theme centered around hope, harmony, and happiness. Prof. Samanta unveiled plans to propose May 17 as the official Art of Giving day to the United Nations. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Prof. Ganeshi Lal, who lauded Prof. Samanta’s groundbreaking initiative. He highlighted how AOG transcends barriers, resonating with all individuals regardless of caste, creed, or religion. Drawing parallels to devotion towards Lord Jagannath, he described AOG as akin to “bringing heaven to earth.” AOG has evolved into a grassroots movement, spreading hope and happiness, particularly among marginalized communities. Prof. Achyuta Samanta expressed his optimism about AOG becoming a UN-recognized day by its 10th anniversary, akin to International Yoga Day on June 21. He recounted the inception of AOG in 2013 during a journey to Bangalore, inspired by his belief in compassionate giving’s role in his achievements. Swami Sivachidananda Saraswati highlighted the tradition of giving in Guruji Swami Shivananda’s teachings, which aligns with AOG’s ethos. Prof. Samanta’s vision continues to unite people under the banner of generosity and benevolence.

  • KSAC society- ENACTUS: Enabling transgenders and Disable Women

ENACTUS KISS-KIIT’ is an innovative initiative by the students of the University to improve the quality of life in society. Under this initiative, in 2016, Project SIDDHI was undertaken, which provided opportunity to the oppressed communities specially the transgenders in and around Bhubaneswar to change their lives for the better. They also spread the awareness to eliminate the use of plastic bags by replacing it with handmade paper bags.

https://ksac.kiit.ac.in/societies/enactus/

  • After successful collaboration with the transgenders, ENACTUS worked with a voluntary organization, Aaina. The students also worked with the disabled women to make them self-sufficient. The disabled women worked on an order of 5000 newspaper bags from Urban Micro and made crafty bags with designs like gift bags from handmade paper.
  • ENACTUS in collaboration with Daya Foundation, an organization working for women from backward areas prepared an order for “Delight Bakeries” of 14000 brown paper bags with customized print. Another order with the Founder of “Biggies, Burger n more” for an order of 20000 brown paper bags with customized print in collaboration with Niyatee Foundation (https://www.niyateefoundation.org/) and Udyog Foundation (http://udfoundation.org.in/) was undertaken and successfully delivered.
  • ENWIPE, a project introduced by KISS-KIIT, is a unique concept of water-less car wash service at the customer’s doorstep. ENACTUS promoted a special eco-friendly solution for cleaning the vehicles, adding only 500ml of water to 5ml of the solution. The main aim of Project Enwipe is to use minimal amount of water and provide employment opportunities to under privileged and physically challenged (hearing and speech impaired) individuals, simultaneously helping them earn and live as equal contributors in society.
