KIIT Deemed to be University (KIIT-DU) and CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), New Delhi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration on various aspects of industrial R&D activities in the areas of road and transportation sector on 03rd April 2023 at the office of CSIR-CRRI, New Delhi.

KIMS To Upgrade Knowledge Base Of Doctors In Remote Odisha with collaboration with state governent
Continuing its philosophy of “healthcare with a healing touch’’ city-based Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), a constituent of KIIT-Deemed-to-be-University, would take its role further in spreading messages on the management of medical emergencies to the primary health centres (PHCs) and community health centre (CHCs) in the coming days, in order to help citizens across Odisha. As part of the 5th CME during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the KIIT-DU on “Clinical pearls in the management of medical emergencies’’ on January 15, for the first time, doctors from various PHCs and CHCs across the State were given an opportunity to learn how to treat trauma and emergency cases and the experts, through their valued talks, tried to enlighten the participants on how to work efficiently and correctly to treat the victims during the first few minutes and hours as it’s called the “golden hour’’ in medical parlance.

Training Programme for Master Trainers of Cell for National Centre for Literacy (CNCL), NCERT on NILP Implementation Held at KISS-DU
The Cell for National Centre for Literacy (CNCL), NCERT in collaboration with the School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology (STHTI), KISS organized a five-day training programme on New India Literacy Programme (NILP) Implementation from 20th to 24th February 2023. Speaking at the inaugural session, Dr. Bani Bora, Senior Consultant, CNCL discussed the five components of NILP, its structure, mode and implementation. Explaining the roles and responsibilities of volunteer teachers, she explained the importance of Mobile Survey App in identification of targeted non-illiterates and voluntary teachers. Dr. Bora insisted on developing an empathetic approach towards the challenges faced by NILP learners.
KIIT to be Associate Sponsor of Rugby India, Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs
The KIIT and KISS DU on Monday entered into an agreement with the Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU) to promote and popularise Rugby both at the grassroots level and the high-performance level. As per the MoU, KIIT-KISS has become the only university in India to be the associate sponsor of Rugby India for the next three years. The State Government remains the main sponsor of the game. Involvement with the Indian Council of Social Science and Research (ICSSR), Government of India
ICSSR was established in 1969 by Government of India to promote research in social sciences in the country which has led to SDG policy development in the national context. Few of the KIIT’s themed based research are to Improve Agriculture, Groundwater Quality, and Women’s Well-Being and create a more sustainable and equitable future for the region. By maximising nitrogen utilisation, the Nitrogen Management in Agriculture initiative aims to reduce fertiliser costs and increase the use of natural resources. This provides a route to healthier and more successful farming methods throughout South Asia. The Anthropogenic and Geogenic Contamination of Groundwater in Bhubaneswar Urban Catchment Project investigates how waste disposal, population expansion, and industrialisation affect groundwater quality, and the results will help guide government policy regarding the preservation of groundwater resources. The Swachh Bharat Mission’s initiative in Odisha, “Relationship between Household Sanitation and Women’s Experience of Menstrual Hygiene,” focuses on the crucial connection between menstrual hygiene and household sanitation in underdeveloped areas. The findings offer insightful information to decision-makers, thereby promoting women’s economic empowerment and well-being.

The KIIT Deemed-to-be-University on Tuesday signed an MoU with the National Building Constructions Corporation (NBCC) to impart skill-based programmes to the students of both KIIT and KISS and make them industry ready.
The function was attended by the Founder of KIIT-KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta and GM HR of NBCC Debasis Satapathy. As per the MoU, skill development and industry-oriented internship training will be provided for KIIT and KISS students with a focus on SC/ST and students from the financially weaker section.

KIIT Deemed-to-be-University has solidified a significant partnership with the National Building Constructions Corporation (NBCC) aimed at equipping students from both KIIT and KIIT & KISS with industry-relevant skills. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the Founder of KIIT-KISS, and NBCC’s GM HR, Debasis Satapathy. Under the terms of the MoU, KIIT and KIIT & KISS students, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds such as SC/ST and economically disadvantaged sections, will receive skill development and industry-focused internship training. Dr. Samanta also urged NBCC to consider establishing a research facility on the KIIT campus, emphasizing KIIT’s remarkable growth and its high national and international rankings. NBCC’s GM hailed KIIT’s global recognition and highlighted the opportunity for students from both institutions to gain exposure by visiting NBCC project sites beyond the state. In a separate agreement, NBCC signed an MoU with the Kandhamal district administration to contribute to the construction and renovation of Community Health Centers (CHCs) as part of various social welfare initiatives. Dr. Samanta, also an MP representing Kandhamal in the Lok Sabha, commended the district’s outstanding progress across socio-economic parameters, ranking 9th among all aspirational districts in India. The Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, School of Law, KIIT in association with Vishwaneedam Center for Asian Blossoming, Puducherry and Chennai, organized an International Webinar “Rethinking and Transforming Public Policy: The Challenges of Ethics, Aesthetics and Responsibility” on 7th May 2021. The webinar underscored the importance of the topic and highlighted the role of public policy in the governance process. It also emphasized the philosophical thought of public policy and tried to connect with contemporary public policy management (SDG 8, 9, 10, 11, 16)At the Inaugural Session, the key speaker Prof. John Robert Clammer, Professor, Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities, O. P. Jindal Global University/Kyoto University spoke on “Aesthetics and/as Policy: Cultural Rights and the Quality of the Public Environment”, while Mr. Carlos Alvarez Pereira, The Club of Rome, Member-Advisory Boards of UNESCO Chair of Global Understanding for Sustainability, University of Jena, Germany discussed the topic, “A Relational Approach to Political Economy and Public Policy: Making Sense of what we know, towards a Society of Living”. Bar Council of India to set-up Indian Institute of Law (IIL) at Bhubaneswar in collaboration with KIIT

KIIT International e-Model United Nations (8th edition of KIIT International e-Model United Nations) was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Roger Gopaul, High Commissioner of Republic of Trinidad & Tobago to India in the presence of Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, Vice Chancellor, KIIT ((Deemed to be University)) Bhubaneswar, Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, the honourable Registrar and other dignitaries on 29th January 2021. The event was organized by KIIT Student Activity Centre (KSAC).
The first day of the conference featured Intergovernmental Processes, UN Women and Motivating Discourse. The day proceeded with sessions in the various committees of the e-Model United Nations, such as DISEC, UNHRC, WHA, SPECPOL, ECOSOC, UNPBC, UNFCCC, UN-WOMEN, UNSC and HCC. A total of about 600 national and international participants connected from majority of European and Asian nations.
Statewide UGC Paramarsh Workshop Starts at KIIT
As a part of its continuous efforts of serving the needs of the society at large, KIIT has lent its hands to the ‘UGC- Paramarsh’ program. The objective of the program was to enhance the overall quality of the mentee institutions and mentoring the non-accredited Higher Education Institutions to enable them to get accredited. Being an organization, which earned the tag of ‘Institution of Eminence’ (IoE) for its’ quality and value system in imparting world-class education, it is obvious that there could not be any better option than KIIT in partnering UGC in this program. Under the Paramarsh program, KIIT is supposed to mentor five institutions. Carrying on its legacy successfully and the benevolent decision taken by its Founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta to spread the program statewide, KIIT has mentored more than twenty-five colleges and three universities till date. In the meantime, KIIT has successfully organized four workshops which have been attended by more than Principals and IQAC coordinators from colleges of different parts of Odisha. KIIT is also helping the already accredited institutions in improving their grade. Continuing this, on 12th February 2021, KIIT in collaboration with QAC, Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Baripada organized a two-day workshop, sponsored by NAAC. Prof. Asoka Kumar Das, Vice-Chairperson, Odisha State Higher Education Council graced the program as the Chief Guest and Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT ((Deemed to be University)) as the Guest of Honor. Prof. Kishore Kumar Basa, Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University chaired the program and suggested all the participating institutions to strive to get NAAC accreditation. Prof. Jayanta Kumar Parida, Director, KIIT School of Commerce & Economics and Prof. Ranjan Kumar Bal, Ex-Chairman, P. G. Council, Utkal University conducted the workshop. Coordinator of the KIIT Paramarsh, Prof. Parida, from his experiences of decades of being one of the members of accreditation committees of NAAC, enlightened the audience with various measures that can be taken by the institutions to ensure accreditation.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty said that researchers should solve real world problems through their research works. Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, emphasized collaborative research work and spoke on the importance of EV in future transportation systems. In his address, Prof. Byamakesh Nayak, Dean, School of Electrical Engineering, discussed the importance of refresher courses and briefed about the facilities available in the School.
Webinar on ICC Jurisprudence in the Cases of Iraq and Philippines, organized by School of Law, KIIT
School of Law KIIT organized a Webinar on ICC Jurisprudence in the cases of Iraq and Philippines on 30th October 2021. The lecture was focused on crimes over which ICC exercises jurisdiction and those are genocide, crimes against humanity under war crimes and crimes of aggression. The resource person for the webinar was Mr. Chiarini, (Doctoral Research Fellow at Insubria University) is an Attorney at Law admitted as Assistant to Counsel (Conseils Adjoints) at the International Criminal Court, The Hague. He shed light on the constituting elements of genocide. Subsequently distinctions between genocide and crimes against humanity and war crimes and crimes of aggression were also explained. The session focused on how the office of the prosecutor works and how the external lawyer gets the materials and evidence to present in the court and what are the reasonableness of evidence and examination of the investigation.

State-level Capacity Building Workshop on National Multisectoral Action Plan for Prevention & Control of Non-Communicable Diseases
Considering the rising trend of the Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and its risk factors which require interventions from multiple sectors, Govt. of India has prepared National Multi-sectoral Action Plan (NMAP) for prevention and control of NCDs involving several non-health sectors. In this context, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, in collaboration with School of Public Health, KIIT (Deemed to be University), Jagadguru Kripalu University and World Health Organization (WHO) India Office, organizeda capacity building workshop for NMAP nodal officers for the Odisha State on September 22-24, 2021. The aim of the workshop was to strengthen multisectoral actions in Odisha by operationalizing the existing National Multi-sectoral Action Plans (MSAP).

School of Applied Sciences, KIIT-DU organized the first Water Technology Research Lecture on 19th August 2021 on virtual platform in collaboration with Waste Water Innovations, South Africa. The title of the lecture was “Nanocomposite materials for waste water remediations”. In his lecture, Prof. Mishra discussed the worldwide problem of water pollution and its consequences. He focused on the role of nanotechnology for addressing the issue.

To gain insights into the topic, the School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), KISS-DU, organized a national webinar on ‘Academia Industry Collaboration for Innovation and Development’ on 23rd July 2021.
