2nd Leadership Convention Held at KIIT The Meet Was Attended by Several IIT Faculties, Social Scientists & Business Leaders

The 2nd Leadership Convention on ‘World is One’ organized by the World Leadership Academy and KIIT DU on Saturday. It was attended by academicians including several IIT faculties, scientists, social scientists, and business leaders. The meet discussed issues such as equality and justice, inclusiveness in diversity, culture of resilience and innovation and disruption.

KIIT Hosts Indian Universities Forum Meet Education Key for Societal Emancipation, Says Governor Ganeshi Lal Inaugurating the Conclave

The KIIT DU on Thursday played host to the prestigious Indian Universities Forum conclave, organized by the Times Higher Education. Inaugurating the event Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal emphasized the value of education for the emancipation of the masses.  The theme of the event was ‘optimizing learning landscape’.

“The purpose of education is social upliftment, renouncing negativity and leading a fulfilling life that transforms the earth into a heaven,” Prof Lal said. Talking about the virtues of peace and harmony in society, he said that when the world was busy in waging wars, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained engaged in giving vaccines (to fight the pandemic) and committed himself to spreading the message of amity in society.

KSRM Organizes a Guest Talk on IQ, EQ and SQ

KSRM organized an Inspirational Talk for MBA (Rural Management), MBA (Agri-business Management) and Post Graduate Diploma in Community Development (PGDCD) students.

Mr. Brahmanand S Siingh, CEO and Founder of Mobius Films and Mobius Biopics Pvt. Ltd., delivered the talk by interacting with students from the school and asking them why they were there and what their purpose was. He went on to emphasize the significance of discovering one’s life’s larger purpose. He stated that one should not be limited by the trivialities of life. With the help of numerous stories, he instilled the importance of having a purpose-based mindset over a money-based mindset or a career-based mindset. He also discussed the significance of organisational and societal perceptions of having a high intelligent quotient (IQ). However, in this day and age, it should be backed up by the Social Quotient (SQ), Adversity Quotient, and Emotional Quotient (EQ). The speaker went on to discuss how important it is to look at things from a different perspective and how to improve one’s ability to see things differently. Working in this faculty allows one to perceive things differently and work more efficiently, he added.

KIMS Cancer Centre Organises Walkathon to Create Cancer Awareness

The KIMS Cancer Centre-Bhubaneswar observed World Cancer Day on Saturday with the students, doctors, nurses, faculties and staff participating in a walkathon to create awareness on combating the disease.

The state-of-art Centre, which was commissioned about six months ago, observed the occasion for the first time. It is a comprehensive cancer care hospital spread over 7 floors on the KIMS-Bhubaneswar premises, equipped with all advanced technologies and run by a competent medical team.

The walkathon saw overwhelming participation where students from KISS raised cancer slogans to promote cancer awareness such as ‘don’t hide cancer’ and ‘go for treatment and defeat the disease’.

District Level NSS Youth Leadership Training Camp at KIIT

KIIT NSS Bureau and Community Engagement Cell organized District Level NSS Youth Leadership Camp from 18th to 20th March 2023. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Kajal Parashar, Dy. Director, CEC & Program Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau in the presence of Dr. Ramesh Chandra Behera, State NSS Officer – cum-Deputy Secretary to Govt. of Odisha, Dept. of Higher Education, Bhubaneswar; and Ms. Sarita Patel, Regional Director, Regional Directorate of NSS, Bhubaneswar.

KIIT-TBI holds UK-India HealthTech Bootcamp

KIIT-TBI, the technology business incubator of the KIIT-Deemed-to-be-University, along with Academic Health Science Network, Yorkshire and Humber and Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster Foundation (BCKIC) has been organising a three-day UK-India HealthTech Bootcamp with top 25 start-ups from the pan-Indian digital healthcare sector, to navigate and scale their healthtech business to the UK and the world.

These three days of extensive bootcamp was run by the delegation from Yorkshire & Humber AHSN team Dr Neville Young, Mr Tim East, Mr Tom Hutchinson and Ms Dace Dimza-Jones and British High Commission India team, Ms Leena Paul, Mr Deep Narayan, Mr Abhishek Jha & Mr Sandip Chaudhuri.

C20 Commences at KIIT with Call for Gender Equality & Mainstreaming Differently Abled Women

The Civil 20 (C20) Gender Equality and Disability Working Group Summit under the G20 framework kicked off at KIIT-DU on Saturday, with the Founder of KIIT and KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta underpinning the importance of women empowerment for the success of the country and the society.

Dr Samanta said that the Odisha Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is giving utmost focus on gender equality through programmes such as Mission Shakti which has empowered 70 lakh women members in self-help groups. Speaking about KIIT and KISS, he said, 50 per cent of the students and as many numbers of employees are women “We all are giving top priority to women’s empowerment. Until and unless women are empowered, there will be no success in India or the state or KIIT and KISS,” he asserted.

KIIT organized a week-long digital UN75 campaign

The aim of this annual programme was to amplify indigenous & youth voices while addressing key areas of Education, Inclusion and Climate Change through online dialogue & discussion as well as field level awareness campaigns while adhering to Covid-19 health and safety guidelines. Each event provided a platform to connect a variety of participants – from senior government officials working on SDGs, planners, district level administrators, representatives from training institutions, researchers and civil society organizations engaged with the SDG Agenda in India to grassroots level social workers, tribal leaders, and youth.

A project titled “Vitamin bio-fortification through fermentation of common energy-dense foods of India and South Africa for young children (3-10 years)” has recently been approved for funding by the International Division of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The project is being conducted jointly by KIIT (Deemed to be University) and University of Pretoria.

Revised and reintroduced in 2020, the National Education Policy is the first education policy of the 21st century and aims to address the many growing developmental imperatives of our country. The Center of Excellence on Sustainability and Equity was established in 2019 to create awareness among its students, staff and general public about the needs and importance of sustainable development goals, their importance and impact on the progress of our nation. This Center of Excellence worked on gathering, measuring and analyzing data related to different sustainable development goals both at national and international level through its collaborations, partners, NGOs, surveys and research activities. It is also working towards more collaboration at national and international level, NGOs and corporate to frame policies and decide on plan of action to meet the goals associated with the SDGs.

The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has signed a partnership agreement with the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) to provide the online Self-directed Emotional Learning for Empathy and Kindness (SEEK) course for KIIT-KISS staff and students in a phased manner.
